The AV working group issued its principles statement and DC has a framework for how it will approach adopting conditional and high autonomous vehicles in the coming years: through pilots with Ford and on 10th Street corridor, addressing policy and legal issues presented by AV, exploring how data from pilots will inform adoption, and determining where and how the use of AV makes sense for DC government operations. Resilient DC moves from working group output in the five identified discovery areas addressing climate change, city growth, and technological change to assessing opportunities and developing a preliminary list of initiatives. From there comes executive review and development of the strategy planned for release in late February.

Following up from an unsolicited proposal for kiosks in the city last year, OP3 has conducted a preliminary evaluation, gathered agency requirements, refined the scope of the project to outdoor kiosks, will hold an industry day in early 2019, issue an RFP in spring 2019, and is looking to conduct a limited pilot deployment at DPR sites. Interested agencies and entities should plan to participate in the upcoming industry day. Privacy and other areas of interest to be worked through.
